The Beekeeping and Honey Production Program was implemented to raise awareness of beekeeping, honey production, and hive productivity, and to support the sustainability of bee populations. Another key objective of the project was to promote healthy, locally produced honey across Mardin province and its surrounding areas, while creating sustainable income opportunities—particularly for women and community members who do not own arable land.
Participants first completed theoretical training, followed by hands-on practical sessions in the Derik district of Mardin, where they learned the fundamentals of beekeeping and honey production. Through this process, participants gained the opportunity to pursue livelihoods as beekeepers and honey producers, creating new employment pathways for themselves.
Throughout the project, beneficiaries received training in beekeeping, honey production, Turkish language skills, occupational health and safety, and hygiene. In addition, beehives and essential equipment were provided to participants, enabling them to engage directly in production activities and establish a sustainable source of income.
