HUNGARY, BUDAPEST – 2023

Between 19 and 22 May 2023, a meaningful and multi-layered gastronomic gathering took place in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, as part of the Turkish Cuisine Week programme. Hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Budapest, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the event aimed to introduce traditional Turkish cuisine on an international platform.

The reception brought together Turkish citizens living in Budapest and representatives of civil society organisations, alongside Hungarian bureaucrats and diplomats. For this special occasion, two thematic menus reflecting Türkiye’s rich culinary heritage were prepared: the Hatay Menu and the 100th Anniversary of the Republic Menu. Each menu offered a gastronomic interpretation of Anatolia’s historical depth, cultural diversity, and the Republic’s contemporary values.

The table set in Budapest presented Turkish cuisine not only through its flavours, but also through its capacity to convey cultural memory, sustainability, and social connection. This gathering, held within the framework of Turkish Cuisine Week, once again highlighted gastronomy as a lasting bridge that strengthens intercultural dialogue and shared understanding.
